Privacy Policy
This explains what information RightPlace collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and your choices. Last updated October 7, 2026. This is a draft pending review by our lawyer.
What we collect
- Account details you give us: first and last name, email, mobile phone, ZIP code, birthday, gender (optional), how you heard about us, and, if a friend invited you, the email or phone you enter for them.
- Your taste profile: the vibes and foods you pick.
- Your vibe chips, while signed in: how many searches used each vibe chip and which chips you picked together, so your most-used chips come first, and any chips you save and name. Only the chips are kept, never what you type in search. Only you see them, and you can rename or delete your chips any time.
- If you run a restaurant or bar: the place you claim, your role, and optional details about how you run it today.
- Your location, when RightPlace is open and your phone allows it (see "Location" below).
- The rough area you made your account from: the city, state and country our hosting company (Cloudflare) works out from your internet connection when you sign up, or the city of a ZIP code you type, which replaces it. Never your street or exact spot, and we don’t save your internet address with it.
- If you use “Tell your favorite spot”: the spot’s name you type, your town, and how you chose to send the note (share, copy, text or email). You send the note yourself; RightPlace never contacts the spot for you.
- What you do on RightPlace: pages viewed, buttons tapped and time spent, wait reports, reviews and photos you post, visits where a place seats you through RightPlace, what you order at a place while signed in (food sent ahead or rung in on your visit) and the dishes you save as favorite meals, deals and perks you use, points, and feedback you send.
- If you sign in with Google, Facebook or X, the name, email and profile picture those services share with us. We do not get your password or your posts.
Location
- RightPlace uses your location to show you deals and savings nearby, to check you in when you arrive at a place (that’s how wait reports earn points), and to send you Deal Alerts (a note on your phone, at most one a day) when a deal you care about is on near you. The same box covers location and Deal Alerts, so unchecking it turns both off. The location box is checked when you sign up, and you can uncheck it then or change it later on your account page.
- Your phone or browser also asks your permission, and you can turn it off there at any time too. Without location, nearby deals, check-ins and Deal Alerts won’t work.
- We store the places you check in at, the distance used to confirm a check-in, and where each of your devices last opened RightPlace (Deal Alerts use it for 3 hours), not a running history of where you go.
How we use it
- To run your account and sign you in, show you places, waits and deals, give you points and perks, and tell you about savings near you.
- To let a place know you’re on the way, and to show the host what guests at the door say about the wait.
- To improve RightPlace and fix problems, using your feedback and what gets used.
- To see which towns and spots want RightPlace next, and to tell you when RightPlace isn’t open in your area yet. We count sign-ups by area; we don’t share your area with restaurants.
- To send you emails about your account, points and launch news. Text messages only if you agree to them when we ask.
Who can see it
- Other guests see your reviews with your first name and last initial, and the photo you add.
- A restaurant sees your name and party size when you tell them you’re on the way, and your allergies if you add them, so the kitchen can keep you safe.
- Restaurants and partners may receive statistics that combine many people and can’t identify you, for example how many guests nearby like a certain food, or which dishes members order most and at what hours. Groups smaller than 5 people are never shown. We do not sell your personal information.
- Companies that help us run RightPlace process data for us: Supabase (database and sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting), Resend (email), and address lookups by OpenStreetMap and Zippopotam (they receive a position or ZIP code, not who you are). Google, Meta or X only if you choose to sign in with them. Google AdSense shows the ads described below, and Google Analytics counts anonymous page visits (see "Counting visits" below).
- We may share information if the law requires it.
Counting visits
- We count visits ourselves (pages viewed, buttons tapped and time spent, as described above), kept under a random number for your browser, not your name.
- We also use Google Analytics to count anonymous page visits: which pages are viewed, the kind of device, and a rough region that Google works out. Google never gets the part of a web address after a question mark. On member and staff screens it gets only the kind of screen, like "Place" or "Account", never which place, your name, email, member number, location or messages.
- Ads signals are off for Google Analytics: no Google signals, no ad personalization, and we never send a user ID or other personal information. Google Analytics sets its own cookie to tell visits apart. You can block it with Google’s opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Ads
- People who aren’t signed in may see one ad on some pages, marked “Advertisement”. Signed-in members don’t see these ads, and ads never appear on a restaurant’s own RightPlace website or on staff screens.
- Google AdSense picks and shows the ad. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads at https://adssettings.google.com or opt out of other companies’ ads at https://www.aboutads.info. We don’t give Google your account, and we don’t see who Google shows an ad to.
Keeping it and deleting it
- We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. You can ask anytime; see the Data Deletion page. Statistics that don’t identify you may be kept.
- You can see and change your profile, tastes and location settings on your account page.
Age
- RightPlace is for people 13 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we delete it. Deals on alcohol are for guests 21 and older, and places check ID as usual.
Changes and contact
- If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and tell you about big changes. Questions: support@getrightplace.app.
