Boost a post on Facebook

Boost a post on Facebook, one step at a time.

A boost pays Facebook to show your post to people nearby who don't follow you yet. Every picture below is drawn to look like Facebook's screen, with the one thing to tap lit up.

The guide

  1. On your Facebook Page, find the post and click Boost post under it.: You can only boost something already posted. If it is grey, that post can't be boosted; try another.
  2. Under Goal, click Change and pick the one for website visitors.: That sends people who tap to your RightPlace page with tonight's wait and deals.
  3. Pick a button like Learn More, and paste your RightPlace link as the web address.: The tag on the link lets Numbers count who came from this boost.
  4. Set the audience: a few miles around your spot, and 21 and up if the post shows drinks.: People nearby can come in tonight. Meta has its own rules for drink ads, and 21 and up keeps you on the safe side.
  5. Set the total budget and how many days it runs, then click Publish (some screens say Boost post).: Start small and look at Numbers before you boost again. You pay Meta, not RightPlace.

After it runs

Once the boost runs, RightPlace Numbers shows how many people your Facebook boost sent to your page.

Instagram and Facebook change these screens often, so your buttons may look a little different. Look for the same words.

Questions owners ask

How much should a restaurant spend on a boost?

That is up to you, and Facebook lets you set it. Start small, run it for a few days before your busy nights, and look at who came in before you boost again.

Does RightPlace charge for boosting or take a cut?

No. You pay Meta directly with your own card. RightPlace makes the video, fills in these steps and counts the people your boost sends to your page.

What should I boost?

A short video of your food with tonight's special works well. RightPlace makes one from your own dish photos, in the tall shape Reels and Stories use.

Can I boost a post that shows drinks?

Meta has its own rules for alcohol ads. Set the youngest age to 21 and follow what Meta asks for when it reviews the boost.
