Make your board

Your board saves in this browser on this device. Your own photos are shrunk on your device and never leave it unless you send the link.

How to use it

  1. Type your specials: A title and up to eight lines, each with its price. Leave a price blank for a line with words only.
  2. Pick a look: Chalkboard, Clean or Bold. Change it any time; your words stay.
  3. Add a photo: Pick one of the free restaurant photos for the background and a dish or drink photo beside the specials, or use your own.
  4. Get it on the TV: On a computer plugged into the TV, tap Play full screen. Otherwise tap Send it to the TV with a link and open the link in the TV's web browser.
  5. Keep a spare: Any old laptop or streaming stick with a browser can run the board. A spare device or two helps when one acts up.

Questions owners ask

What do I need to show a digital menu board?

A TV that can open a web page: a smart TV with a web browser, or a computer or streaming stick with a browser plugged into the TV. No special hardware required.

Is this digital menu board free?

Yes. No sign-up, no ads, and nothing to download.

Can I use my own photos?

Yes. Pick Use my own photo under Background or Picture. A wide photo of at least 1920 by 1080 pixels looks sharpest as a background. The photo is shrunk on your device and stays there unless you send the board as a link.

Where do the free photos come from?

They are photos RightPlace already uses: restaurant photos from Unsplash and dish photos in the public domain. You can use them on your board.

Does the board change by itself?

Not this free one: it shows what you typed until you change it. RightPlace Door TV changes slides on their own by the time of day and updates from your phone, included with a RightPlace membership.

Will the TV go to sleep?

While the board plays, the page asks the browser to keep the screen awake where the browser allows it. If your TV has its own sleep timer, turn it off in the TV's settings.
